On April 17-18 2010, The Moroccan Society of Houston Cycling Team is joining thousands of cyclists for the BP MS 150 from Houston to Austin. This two-day bike ride isn’t a race, but it does raise money in the race to find the cure for multiple sclerosis. Last year 13,000 cyclists raised $17.3 million to help 20,000 Texans living with MS.
Multiple Sclerosis is a progressive neurological disease that affects people in many different ways. It could be paralysis one day, loss of vision the next or impaired memory the day after. Living with MS means living with uncertainty.
With this journey, the MSH team is helping the National Multiple Sclerosis Society fund research to find the cause, cure and treatment of MS. The team participation also helps support services for people affected by MS. The team’s fund raising goal is $ 10,000 supporting the ride’s 2010 goal of $ 18 million.
Please help support our fellow Texans by making a tax-deductible donation. To donate online please visit the MS website where a special secure online donation link has been setup for each member’s name:
Abdel Elkhadiri
Moe Boughaba
Tachfine Zelmat
Jawad Boughaba
Seymour Ajdiou
Abdel Dinari
Wafi Dinari
Any amount you feel comfortable giving is deeply appreciated. With your support we can make a positive impact today in the lives of 20,000 men, women and children with multiple sclerosis.
Thank you for your support
Sincerley Yours,
MSH MS 150 Team

Over the past two decades, The Moroccan American population in the United States of America has exponentially increased becoming one of the most vibrant and fastest growing communities in the US rising to prominence in many areas of business and daily life, commerce and trade, education, medicine and professional services. Today, Moroccan Americans are becoming an integral part of the diversity and fabric that makes up the land of uncle Sam. Given these new developments and realities, it is important more than ever for our community to organize in order to succeed, to unite to become stronger and to unleash its potential. In this town hall meeting, that commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Washington Moroccan Club (WMC), the Moroccan Society of Houston has partnered with WMC to explore ways to consolidate the Moroccan presence in the United States through an open dialogue and discussion by a panel that comprises a selected group of people who have deep understanding of issues in Morocco and in the United States.
The discussion was around the following themes:
The importance of the Moroccan Americans in the United States for Morocco.
The power of civic engagement in the United States.
How to promote the Welfare of Moroccan Americans in the United States and encourage their political participation.
Designing a linking strategy between all Moroccan American Non Profit Organizations in the US.
Getting involved in the Development as well as the political processes in Morocco.
As Moroccan Americans, do we have the resources to engage in legislative advocacy! What could we do even with limited resources?
Empowering Moroccan Americans in the United States.
Ways to raise funds and become financially sustainable organizations.
According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), an estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed among women in the United States this year. Besides skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer occurring in women.
October is breast cancer awareness month and several local businesses and organizations use October to emphasize awareness and fundraise for different programs that aid patients, treat and work toward finding a cure for breast cancer.
U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Hospitals” 2010 survey again named The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center as the number one hospital in the nation for cancer care. MD Anderson continues to offer continuous information, seminars and free tests when available to the public.

ABOUT THE EVENT
ABOUT AHOUACH
Ahouach is a communal dance specific to the Berber Amazigh population of Morocco. This secular art combines dance, poetry and songs unique to each tribe. Sometimes mixed, sometimes held to the men, the participation of the woman remains dependant on sociological specificities of the human groupings.Like the majority of Moroccan traditional dances, Ahouach incarnates a reference of identity, one collective memory in which the individual recognizes itself and a sign of ethnic membership.
ABOUT ASSA
Assa is an old castle (XIII century) in the middle of commerce routes between the north of Morocco, the southern provinces and the desert. The Berber tribe living there around the "ZAOUIA" of "AIT IAZZA OUHDA" accepts friendly the Arabic tribes coming from the south and the east.It became the tribe of AIT OUSSA (people of ASSA), the biggest tribe in Tekna region. It also gives a mixture between Berber music (Ahouach) and Arabic / Sahraoui music (Hassani).
